Fiddler on the Roof: Matchmaker #MOTM1

Matchmaker

Without no doubt the most cheerfully song of the whole musical. This song is almost the most important song of the play. On one side this song shows the dreams of Tevye’s daughters. On the other side they are scared to marry the wrong man.

Broadway vs. the movie

Personally I’m a fan of the movie, maybe because I’ve only seen the musical on youtube (sometimes bad quality) or because I’m more used too watch the movie. Anyway here are some arguments why I like the daughters from the movie more than the broadwaydaughters. First the sisters sing maybe a little bit too loud in the musical, the moviesister sing the song more sensible and simply more sisterlike. Although =i’m aware of the fact that de broadway musical only has a stage and a movie can film what and how much they want. Musicals don’t have that much space but they can use the area they have as good as possible! Unfortunatly I don’t think they use the stage as good as they can. At least I don’t believe the broadwaysister… The movie gives me more the familyfactor…

What do you think? Have you seen a better broadwayperformance of ‘Matchmaker’? Let me know!!!

Sacco and Vanzetti

If it had not been for these thing, I might have live out my life talking at street corners to scorning men. I might have die, unmarked, unknown, a failure. Now we are not a failure. This is our career and our triumph. Never in our full life could we hope to do such work for tolerance, for joostice, for man’s onderstanding of man as now we do by accident. Our words‚ÄĒour lives‚ÄĒour pains‚ÄĒnothing! The taking of our lives‚ÄĒlives of a good shoemaker and a poor fish-peddler‚ÄĒall! That last moment belongs to us‚ÄĒthat agony is our triumph.‚ÄĚ‚ÄēBartolomeo Vanzetti

A story about power, innocence and love

America in the early nineteenth century. Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti leave Italy and take the boat to America. That promised land turns out to be a hell, they are not welcome and there’s no work. They¬†join both a group of peaceful anarchists.

The Americans, ¬†especially attorney Katzmann, want the Italians out there country. When a robbery takes place, there’s nobody left who can stop Katzmann.

He accuses Sacco and Vanzetti. Their appeal to the Supreme Judicial Court is a joke and the two Italians become¬†sentenced to death. Sacco’s wife stays at his side but his son gives up on him. The world watches.

Deborah de Ridder (Rosa Sacco) , Jelle Cleymans (Sacco), Hans Peter Janssens (Vanzetti) and Peter van de Velde (Katzmann) are the stars performing in this musical. Each of them appeared wonderful! Also the ensemble, consisting of volunteers, was superbe! As always the stage was decorated perfectly and functionally. I don’t want to say anything more about this musical because it’s almost a year ago when I saw it… But my next review will be much longer!

I’m already looking forward to their musical of 2017!

Hi guys, time to share my musical of the month with you! The concept is very easy, each month I choose a musical and give my meaning about it + I blog about a couple of songs I love from the musical.

The musical of May is Fiddler on the Roof. This is a very old and classic musical from 1964. The story is about a milkman and his family, they lived in Russia at the beginning of the twentieth century. Tevye, the milkman, dwells in Anatevka with his wife, Golde, and their five daughters: Tzeitel, Hodel, Chava, Sprintze and Bielke. During the musical the three oldest daughters get married but neither of them follows the Jewish traditions exactly. The movie ends when all the Jews need to abandon their houses and leave Russia.

I wanted this musical to be the first one on my blog because this one¬†is very special to me! During February¬†i played the third daughter, Chava in the production of the town Zaventem. This was my first big role in a musical so ‘Fiddler on the Roof’¬†has a special place in my heart! Hope you guys love this musical as much as I do!

Coolest birthdayparty ever!

I’ve been a bit absent for a while but I’m back baby!

This week I went lasershooting. I was really looking forward to it and it was so much fun! It even exceded my expectations. One of my best friends organised the event for her nighteenth birthday, she invited fifthteen of her closed friends to have three amazing laserfights that each lasted twenty minutes. In total was it an hour of extreem fun!

After two minutes of running around like hysterical women to find the perfect hiding spot the game could really start! The arena was gigantic, we only used half of it and we were with the maximal amount of players. So,despite that the building is situated in the middel of Leuven, the arena was not small at all.
